Pr. Salgado from Bethel-Puerto Rico, visits
Bethel-Madison
As part of our III Aniversary celebrations, a
unique event that we called, "A Taste of Puerto
Rico" was held at Bethel on Saturday, Nov. 12,
from 5:30-9:30 pm.
Most people who have gone on the Puerto Rico
Mission trip in past yearsconsider the party held
at Bethel Lutheran of Dorado as the highlight
oftheir trip. On this evening, we eat, pull away
the tables and chairs,and set the musical
equipment. Then Pastor Ivette and her longtime
friend, Monchi, would sing. And they sing for
hours: the merengue, salsa, bachata infectious
and fun: children dancing with adults; friends
with each other; and people meeting new
people. We danced until we were sweaty and
could hardly stand, then danced some more.
Until now, this only happened in Dorado, Puerto
Rico. But on Saturday, Nov. 12, Pastor Ivette
and Monchi were here at Bethel to sing for us at
A Taste of Puerto Rico. This was a fabulous and
unique event featuring Puerto Rican food and
music.
Then teh following Sunday the sang at three of
our worship services, and Pr. Ivette preached
at the 12:30 p.m. Latino service. It was an
unforgetable experience. We thank Pr, Ivette,
Monchi, and Olga for their visit and gift of love.
